What is Moetron?
Moetron Details |
Moetron is a community-made character who was originally just a forced summer meme on 4chan’s /a/.
She is a character that focuses on things that are “moe.” However, with the same irony as Pedobear and other board-related characters, she has been the subject of discussion to the point of her becoming a legitimate character. Though a few may joke that she is an abomination, she is considered to be /a/’s daughter.
The theory behind the way she looks is that she was created from parts of many different girls, most likely by a mad scientist who wanted to make a perfect daughter. She has multiple personality disorder as a result, and can go from being tsuntsun to kuudere to yandere in a moment’s time. This also explains her stitches.
Origin
Two years ago, someone from Futaba Channel (2chan) mashed up different moeblobs from various anime. The original image uses a similar template of a super deformed form of Ikeda Kana from Saki.
The result is this:
On almost a daily basis on 4chan’s /a/, some random /a/non would make a thread with no text and just the edited image of Konata as seen above. No one paid attention to the threads for weeks, but in one of them someone asked for actual art of this mysterious girl. The request was completed by a tripfag from /a/, and the “original fanart” of Moetron was born. After that, she took off. As more fanart of her began to pop up, she was dubbed “Moetron” by another random /a/sshole, and now she has even made her way onto Akinator and Japanese blog sites.
Her birthday is May 7th.

Japanese Government to Start Anti-Anime/Manga Piracy Operation Next Month
In cooperation with 15 major anime production companies and manga publishers, the Japanese government will next month start a huge extermination operation against 580 foreign sites which have illegally uploaded anime and manga contents on the web without the copyright holders' permission, NHK reported on July 28. While the government has started supporting the genre as one of their important cultural exports, there appears to be no end of illegal uploading of anime and manga via pirate sites, mainly operated by Chinese. The Cultural Affairs Agency estimates the loss caused by the Chinese pirate sites last year was amounted to at least 560 billion yen (about US$ 5.5 billion).
On August 1, the government will start simultaneously sending requests to delete illegal anime and manga contents to the operators of the 580 foreign pirate sites which they have found. In addition, the operation will launch a new site to guide the fans to a legitimate site offering some 250 titles including the latest ones at a cost of several hundred yen.

Why is Anime Addicting?
Why is Anime Addicting??? |
Does it surprise you that there are so many people who make animation the center of their lives?
Just as cigarettes and alcohol can be addicting, anime can be addicting too. People who are addicted to anime, however, are termed as otaku, or animation addicts to be exact. There are people who do nothing all day but watch & think about anime, theorize & collects anime products, squeal about anime, and dream about it as well Well, that's not really the truth and they still do a lot of stuff that are not related to anime, but I think you get the point. They are totally and undeniably addicted to anime and who can blame them? Anime is just about one of the most addicting things in the world. But what makes it so addicting?
As a self-confessed animation addict, I'll have to say that there are several reasons why anime is so addicting for many people.
Characters
The first, and probably the most compelling reason of all, is the sheer beauty by which the makers create their characters. Out of all cartoons in the world, it is only in Japanese anime that I have seen such well rounded and realistic characters that are so distinctly human. Anime does not delude the viewers into thinking that someone can be perfect. The heroes and heroines in anime, beautiful as they may be, have their own flaws and insecurities. They're not like the princesses in the cartoon fairy tales who are epitomes of grace and goodness, and are thereby incredibly flat and drab. Anime heroes and heroines are human, and their humanity makes them all the more interesting.
Also, because they each have their own personalities, we're sure to find at least one character in every show with whom we can relate with and empathize with. And this is one of the biggest reasons why we get hooked in anime versus American cartoons because we're always trying to find out what's going to happen with our favorite characters.
Plots
The plots in anime are just as much reason to get addicted as the characters themselves. Anime Series are almost always gifted with great plots. The plots are seldom ever watered down to suit the audience, thus never undermining the intelligence of the viewers as some of the other cartoon series do. They anime makers can dish out the most elaborate plots and never worry whether anyone will understand whether they will be understood or not - after all, anime is not simply a franchise, it's a form of art, and if people don't understand it today. Then maybe the people of tomorrow will.
Anime plots are always suffused with a sufficient amount of suspense, drama, intrigue, politics, and enough twists and turns to leave your jaw hanging. And not only that, they're usually deep and always have a lesson attached to them.
Animation
Okay, let's not deny it. Part of the reason why we watch anime is because it simply looks amazing. Although they are in 2D format, sometimes they are drawn even better then the ones that are created in 3D. Those overly large eyes, those gravity defying hairstyles, those weirder than weird clothes; they're simply perfect and enough to make anyone keep coming back for more. The artistic amazement is just none stop however you look at it.
