8th Seiyuu Award Winners -- 2013 roles

I'm a bit more skeptical of the results than I used to be, but I still like the annual Seiyuu Awards. This year's awards were announced Friday, and the awards ceremony was held Saturday evening in Tokyo.

There is a long list of organizations backing the event, a list headed by publishers Kadokawa and Shougakukan, who are behind many anime; and the broadcasting company Bunka Housou, which broadcasts many seiyuu radio shows. Awards are based on public voting, which is then apparently massaged by a committee.

Some people in the overseas audience simply hate the sound of his voice, particularly when he is playing a weak guy. But the Japanese audience seems to like him in almost everything he does.

Her roles this year made me realize what a good seiyuu she has become. Mao was excellent; Hajime was fresh and weird; Koganuma-san (the soldier-assistant) was a revelation.
